Chocolate and Ice Cream Ingredient Storage in Shanghai

Chocolate and Ice Cream Ingredient Storage in Shanghai

Temperature-controlled bays from 10-25℃ · humidity held at 40-60% · light protection and odour separation · bonded duty deferral

Why ingredients should not sit in an ordinary ambient bay

Chocolate holds its shape thanks to cocoa butter, which reacts to both temperature swings and foreign odours. Ice cream premix powders and syrups are hygroscopic. An ordinary ambient bay struggles through the rainy season and the summer peak, so even short-term storage carries quality risk.

Ordinary ambient bay
Yunxiu temperature-controlled bay
Temperature
Drifts with the season and dock doors; chocolate oils out and blooms
Settable across 10-25℃, ±2℃ precision, alarms on deviation
Humidity
Rainy-season spikes; powders take on moisture and sugar cakes
Humidity regulated at 40-60% and logged
Odours
Shared with scented cargo; cocoa butter absorbs taints easily
Segregated bays, kept clear of strong-smelling goods
Light
Direct light at windows and dock doors speeds oxidation and fading

Bay conditions for chocolate and ice cream ingredients

Ingredient cargo comes down to three checks: is the temperature stable, is humidity controlled, and will the goods pick up odours. Below are the conditions of the bays we can lease today — compare them with your product spec line by line.

Adjustable temperature
Temperature-controlled bays are settable across 10-25℃ with ±2℃ precision; ingredients that only need a cool, dry spot can use the ambient bays (4,170㎡ bonded / 1,500㎡ non-bonded).
Humidity under control
Humidity in the temperature-controlled bays is regulated at 40-60%, cutting the risk of powders taking on moisture and caking.
Segregated bays
Chocolate is kept apart from chemicals and strong-smelling cargo; categories can be split into separate areas within one building to limit odour and temperature crossover.
Monitoring and logs
Temperature and humidity are monitored 24/7 and logged for internal audit, claims handling and customer reconciliation.

Chinese labelling and light in-zone processing

Where an imported ingredient batch includes pre-packaged finished goods, Chinese labelling, re-cartoning and sorting can be done inside the zone. Packaging and marking requirements for the ingredient itself should be checked against your product and its end use first.

  1. Review

Check label copy, layout and imported food labelling requirements.

  2. Print

Traceable labels printed per batch, so batches do not get mixed up.

  3. Apply

Hand-applied with controlled placement, avoiding key information on the original label.

  4. Re-inspect

Sampled for quality; anything below spec is corrected on the spot without leaving the zone.

Re-cartoning, sorting and kitting can run alongside. Labelling sits next to the temperature-controlled area, so temperature-sensitive goods spend less time in ambient air.

Batch management and defect segregation

WMS keeps separate accounts by batch, production date, shelf life and SKU. Moisture-damaged, torn and deformed units are isolated and never returned to good stock.

WMS account fields

  • Batch numbers booked separately so batches cannot mix on exit
  • Production dates and shelf life searchable, supporting turnover and near-expiry alerts
  • Certificate-of-origin numbers mapped one-to-one with SKUs

Damaged and rejected flow

  • Moisture damage, torn packs and deformation are picked out and isolated
  • Rejected units can be returned or destroyed after bonded declaration
  • Good-stock ledgers stay clean when rejects are held separately

Four customs steps for imported ingredients

From bonded entry through piecemeal exit, returns and inspection support — documents can be pre-checked to cut waiting time outside the zone.

  1. Bonded entry declaration

Certificate of origin, invoice, packing list, contract, production dates and batch records, all in place on entry.

  2. Piecemeal exit

Partial withdrawals with consolidated declaration; duty and VAT settled on release.

  3. Return or re-export

Unsold batches can be returned or re-exported without paying import duty.

  4. Inspection and quarantine

We support customs inspection and imported food inspection and quarantine, providing storage and temperature-humidity records as needed.

Available alongside
