Why Cheese Should Not Sit in an Ordinary Ambient Zone

Cheese is a classic temperature-sensitive category: it is normally split into several temperature bands by type, with most types needing to be stored below ambient, and it is very sensitive to humidity and odour transfer. An ordinary ambient zone cannot hold its temperature through hot spells, and even short-term handling can leave oiling-off, mould and odour pick-up.

Ordinary ambient zone
Yunxiu climate-controlled zone
Temperature
Drifts with the seasons and dock doors; oiling-off and mould in hot spells
Settable at 10-25℃, precision ±2℃, alerts on excursion
Humidity
Humidity spikes in the plum-rain season; surfaces sweat and go mouldy
Humidity held at 40-60% automatically, with records kept
Odour
Stored with scented goods, cheese absorbs odours strongly
Separate zoning, no mixing with strongly scented goods
Light
Direct light at windows and doors speeds up oxidation and discolouration
Stored away from light to limit its effect

Cheese Temperature Bands and What We Can Check

This category is normally split by type: some types need a distinctly lower band than ambient, while others only need a cool, dark place. The table sets out what the category normally requires alongside the conditions we have confirmed — compare row by row and raise any mismatch at consultation.

What the category normally requires
Yunxiu confirmed conditions
Storage temperature band
Most types need a band below ambient; some need a band close to refrigeration
Climate-controlled zone settable at 10-25℃; needs below that lower bound are not covered by this page
Raw, ripe and type zoning
Different types and ripening stages need different temperature and humidity, and are normally stored apart
Different categories in one warehouse can be split into zones to reduce temperature and odour transfer
Humidity
Some types have specific humidity requirements for ripening and keeping
Humidity in the climate-controlled zone held at 40-60% automatically, with records kept
Handling and time out of temperature
Temperature-sensitive goods normally need minimised time out of temperature, with handling and sorting linked together
In-zone handling and storage sit within the same park; acceptable time out of temperature has to be checked against your goods and arrival method

Our climate-controlled zone is settable at 10-25℃. For categories needing a lower temperature band — refrigeration-dependent types, for example — we do not claim cold-storage capability and do not present that band as covered on this page. Please raise such requirements at consultation so we can confirm whether they can be covered.

Zone Conditions for Cheese and Dairy

Temperature band match comes first, then humidity, zoning and handling continuity. Below are the leasable zone types we currently have, to be checked line by line against your goods.

Settable climate control
The climate-controlled zone is settable at 10-25℃ with precision ±2℃; goods that only need a cool, dark place can use the ambient zone types (bonded 4,170㎡ / non-bonded 1,500㎡).
Automatic humidity control
Humidity in the climate-controlled zone is held at 40-60% automatically, cutting the risk of sweating surfaces and mould.
Separate zoning
Dairy is not stored with chemicals or strongly scented goods; different categories in one warehouse can be split into zones to reduce odour and temperature transfer.
Monitoring and logs
24/7 temperature and humidity monitoring with retained records, available for internal audit, claims and customer reconciliation.

Chinese Labeling and Simple In-Zone Work

Imported pre-packaged dairy can have Chinese labels applied, cartons changed and goods sorted inside the zone; label wording and layout are checked first against your product and import requirements.

  1. Pre-check

Check Chinese label wording, layout and the labelling rules for imported pre-packaged food.

  2. Print

Print traceable labels by batch to avoid mixed labelling.

  3. Apply

Hand application, controlling placement and flatness without covering key original label information.

  4. Re-inspect

Sample-check label quality; anything failing is corrected on the spot, inside the zone.

Cartons can be changed, goods sorted and kits assembled at the same time; when labelling meets storage work, time out of temperature is watched so goods see less ambient exposure.

Batch Control with Expiry and Defect Isolation

The WMS keeps separate accounts by batch, production date, shelf life and SKU; mouldy, torn and damp goods are isolated and never returned to good stock.

WMS account fields

  • Each batch number is booked separately so batches never mix on release
  • Production date and shelf life are searchable, supporting sell-through and expiry alerts
  • Certificate-of-origin numbers map one-to-one with SKUs

Route for damaged and defective goods

  • Mouldy, torn and damp goods are picked out on inbound and outbound, and isolated
  • Defective goods can be returned or destroyed after declaration under bonded goods rules
  • Goods accounts stay unaffected by defective stock

The Four Customs Steps for Imported Cheese and Dairy

From inbound entry to second-line release, returns and inspection support, documents can be pre-checked to cut waiting time outside the zone.

  1. Inbound entry declaration

Certificate of origin, invoice, packing list and contract, plus production date and batch data, all in place before entry.

  2. Second-line release

Release in batches against consolidated declaration, after duty and VAT are settled.

  3. Return and re-export

Unsold batches can be returned or re-exported without import duty.

  4. Inspection and quarantine

Support for customs inspection and imported food inspection and quarantine, with storage and climate records provided as needed.

Can also be arranged
